Headed off to the airport even though we currently still don't have a booking! We checked with the desk as to whether we had a booking but to no avail. So we grabbed a cuppa waiting for the TAME offices to open, hoping they'd resolve our query & book us on the 11:15am flight. By 10:15am we still didn't have a reservation, so Rach went round to their national flights office, kicked up a stink, & a lady there argued with her Head Office until she got us on the flight (as there wasn't another one for 2 days!) A bit of a rush later & we were on the 1.5hr flight from Quito to Panama City, being served a quite impressive lunch. We arrived at the airport without a Lonely Planet for Central America, so didn't have a clue where to go. Luckily the airport had wifi, which we used to find ourselves a hostel & hopped in a ($28) taxi over there, where we got a 4 bed dorm to ourselves. The place was cool & run by a really nice young guy (Xavier - 28), his girlfriend & his mate. We immediately sorted out our washing & strolled to the launderette, stopping off for a fruit smoothie from a v.fast fruit & ice-cream fast food joint, followed by that local Panamanian dish of....... Subway!! Disgraceful I know. What kind of travellers are we, eating crap Western food like that?! But hey, everyone else does & it's all we've found so far! The rest of the evening was spent at the hostel chatting over beers with an older American guy (who really knew his stuff around World economies & how much sh*te the world is in financially!) & a Swiss guy, before crashing out quite early.
