….We arrived in Hoi An at 6am after a 12hour journey on the Night Bus. The bus was really cool and quite luxurious; we had a reclining leather chair and got a blanket and free water. Beth was ok, although typically , me being tall I got probably the worst seat on the bus. I was next to the toilet so you lose a few valuable leg inches…oh well I slept sky-bomber style...
Being woken at 6am was tough, especially with the touts awaiting you to try and lure you to their hotels.
We opted to ignore the touts and to walk (still half asleep) and find our own hotel which we quickly did and went straight back to bed for a few more hours. Zzzzz
Hoi An is a small city but very picturesque, most people visit for the numerous art and craft shops and tailors, who produce made-to-measure clothes for a fraction of the western price. Beth got a very nice shirt which the locals were complementing her in when we was out later.
I was also impressing a few of the locals…. One guy at the restaurant we went to asked me "is that your girlfriend" (thinking maybe he quite liked the look of Beth.) I said yes and he looked disappointed then told Beth how lucky she was to have me and told me I was handsome!!! I think it's the hair!
Hoi An is also famed for its centuries old Cao Lou noodle, which can only be uniquely served here. I had tried them and to be honest I thought they tasted like instant noodles...and I have had a lot of noodles in the last 4 months!!
We only had the one day here and we are moving on to Hue tomorrow (only a 4 hour bus trip)
