From Phu Quoc Island we got a 2 hour boat across to Can Tho which is a little but very busy town lying next to the Mekong Delta.
It is the transportation center for the region, as its connected to the other towns of the Delta by rivers and canals.
It's famous for its floating markets. A floating market is exactly what it sounds like, a market that floats hehe. You'll see from the pics, but its just loads of small boats each selling some kind of fruit or veg! They even have a floating petrol station!
We had to set our alarm for 5am (but Dom woke up at 4.30 and decided to wake me up too) so we could watch the sunrise! (We though about you all at home and said it would only have been 9.30pm for you the previous day!!! )
We got promised for $15 each that we would be on the boat from 5.30am-11.30am (which we pretty much were) and that we'd have breakfast included "bread and jam and tea and coffee" he told us.... i know, i know... i should let it go, but we never received that jam ! OR the tea and coffee ! PLUS we ended up buying our boat driver a drink!!!I wasnt happy .. all i wanted was jam ( they compensated by giving us bananas though so i let it go)
It was so hard to wake up properly.... It was obviously still dark outside and the sound of the boat engine was very relaxing!
It was worth it(Even after the bum ache!!! 6 hours on a small wooden boat gets uncomfortable after a while...hard life eh)
We took (as always) LOTS of photos but unfortunately when we came to load them onto the net our memory card got an error on it and we lost 20% of them never mind saves you all having to look at them!!!
That afternoon we had a mini bus booked for 1.30pm to head to Saigon AKA Ho Chi Minh City (mini buses are always a drag so wasnt looking forward to the 4 hour jounrey....) xxx
