Kanchanaburi is great. We love it here. very quiet and not much night life but weve had a busy few days.

We checked into a very nice guest house called The Jolly Frog ! Its so cheap and we have a lovely view of the River.

On Thursday we rented out a moped and went to the JEATH War Museum

(Jeath stands for the five main nationalities involved in the construction of the Burma (or Death) railway -Japan, England, Australia, Thailand & Holland -and its also instead of using the word 'death')

About 180,000 Asian labourers and 60,000 POWs worked on the railway during World War II. 100,000's labourers died as a result ( 6,318 british)

It was very intersting and very moving. The museum wasnt overly informative but there were lots of pictures, newspaper clippings and drawings by the POWs.

We then went to the Chang Kai Cemetery - the graves were so well kept - there were even a couple with poppies on them and cards which had obviously been laid down recently.

It really was quite emotional.

Especially as some of the headstones read 'Unknown'

We then headed to the Kanchanaburi Cemetery & the museum there .

Then we went to visit the Death Railway over the River Kwai & got a few photos

We had loads of petrol left in the bike so Dom floored it and we drove quite far and stumbled across a cave!! It was only 40p to get in but was a giggle - there was only us 2 in there !! scary

Yesterday we got the local bus (which was an hour and a half and poor dom had no leg room - not made for tallpeople..)

We got chating to two lads on there from London, John and Sam.

We climbed up to the 6th tier (there are 7) had a swim with the fishes(very bizare feeling, they nibble at your legs if you dont keep moving!!!)

As we were cliumbing out of the water we heard "excuse me" and a guy stood there in just a towel and said "have you seen my boxer shorts?" hahaha!! We all burst out laughing (poor guy, he wasnt as amused) then dom noticed that he had his shoes and socks on !!! God knows what happened to his boxers!!! Had he been swimming naked? with his shoes and socks????!!!

then Dom, John & I rushed all the way back down to catch the 2pm bus !! (sam wanted to stay and go up to the 7th tier)

But we missed it & had to wait 2 hours for the next 1 ! We passed the time and had some lunch & was still the last on the bus (so laid back) Oh sorry forgot to mention dom fell on his bum after slipping on a rock !!! bless him ! john was in stitches and every now and then would start laughing about it- i wanted to give him a cuddle hehe

Last night the four of us and a Candian girl named Lyndsey went to an English Bar called "1 more bar" and then for some food (was gorgeous but not nearly filling enough!!) Lyndsey didnt stay out late but the 4 of us got chating to a guy ('Pirate' aka Jack sparrow) )who worked in the bar. He was so funny & put a sign that said 'for rent' round Doms neck !! (was off the mopeds) then on the back of the sign it said 'Who is bike'?? nobody knows what this means

The bar prety much closed the shuters on us (time to leave?) as they have curfew at 10pm i think and we were still sat there at midnight. So we jumped on the back of Pirates moped (3 on a bike) and he took us to a bar (which we think was a Go go bar / Girlie bar) and played pool and had a few more drinks (and we think we may have eaten dog.... eeek hehehe or was it cat?) ignore the strings

We had a great night went to bed at about 3 but only cos there was NOWHERE open ! boring

What a shame that we met John and Sam the day before we left. Johns leaving today too hes heading up to Chang Mai & Sams staying for a few more days

Anyway best go - think our mini bus might be here..... love to you all ! Nearly christmas ! hope ur all organised -We look forward to receving our presents hehe
