Everyone was up on deck early as we were sailing through the Rhine Valley. Rising out of the mist of the you could catch glimpses of the most amazing castles right at the top on the hills. Some dating back to 1616. It gave off an almost aerie feeling. The ingenuity of the builders can only be imagined. We suppose there was no OHS. The slopes leading up to the castles are dotted with vineyards and we passed many villages with quaint houses down in the valley or up the hills. Mist gradually cleared and the sun came out which made sitting on the top deck very enjoyable. This also gave time for chatting with and getting to know other passengers, not everyone is friendly and there are some groups who only stick together and seem to resent the intrusion from outsiders luckily enough there plenty of others. The excursions into the towns also give a chance to mix with other passengers. Our stop today was Rudersheimer and included a visit to Siegfrieds Musical Museum housed in a 13th Century building was a collection of mechanical musical instruments. We were transferred into town on a choo choo which gave us all a good laugh. We also had time to explore the town walking along the cobblestone streets and laneways.
