We are both well and currently in Hanoi in Vietnam, the roads here are nuts, mopeds everywhere, crossing the road has gotten easier since we've realised you just walk out into them and let the mopeds drive around you. This seems to be working very well. The rules on the road here are the bigger the vehicle the more right of way you have and everyone uses their horns here to let other vehicles know that they are over taling so it is constant noise all day long.
We've been in Vietnam for about a week now, spent 3 nights in Hanoi and we took in some culture going to The Ho Chi Min museum, apprently he was some dude that had something to do with getting independence for Vietnam and away from the French or something like that - the real thing i remember was he had some wicked Mr Miagy little beard thing going on. Apparently his body has been preserved and you can go and see him but it was closed when we got there so we couldn't look at him. We also went to the Mesuem of Enthology which neither of us knew what it meant before we turned up there but we did get some really old man to cycle us 6km there on his rickshaw all for about 75p - felt abit sorry for him but he seemed happy enough. Anyway The museum was about how all the different vietnamese tribes lived and how many there are still around today which was quite interesting. we walked about 8km home but stopped off at a resturant in the middle of this street as we were both starving. As we were quite a way out of the City not a sole spoke english and everyone was staring at us, the menu was in Vietnamese so we had no idea what we were ordering, so we just pointed at stuff and they brought it out. i'm pretty sure one of our dishes was Dog but i can't be certain, to be honest i'm not sure i want to know.
we also went on a boat trip to halong bay which was amazing we done some caving/kayaking and spent the night on the boat. We had a good group with some australian's/french/american's and czech people and we had a good laugh. Me and Howesy were the only ones who jumped off the top of the boat and went for a swim though.
We had a pretty amazing game of dice. We went through 7 bottles of Vodka having to pull up anchor and twice to buy more vodke of other boats. Every nation on the table was smashed and the game went down a storm.
the next day we went on a 2 hour trek to the top of a mountain which was pretty knackering and when at the top we climbed a look out tower which was a little rickerty but we got some good pictures from the top.
last night we went out with some locals, one of which was our tour guide 'Dragon', and the rest were his friends - it was a great experience as we sat on the street on these tiny chairs eating and drinking with the locals with us being the only white people there. It was something that we had wanted to do since we got here but was sure if we would be intruding if we just sat down in 'their' place. but it was great to do and we'll try and do it in every city we go to.
Pictures will be posted as soon as we get to a computer with a card reader.
