We are currently in Queenstown New Zealand, where we have finally found life. The rest of our journey around NZ has been pretty quiet as no-one seems to live anywhere else than Queenstown. Saying this we have done some pretty amazing stuff so far.
We have seen quite a lot of both islands (which are beautiful to say the least (Hom)) as we have been driving around in our camper van, which is pretty cool. We have been to the bay of islands where we went on a Speed boat called the "Mack Attack", we sailed around the islands and saw dolphins.
We then visited 90 Mile beach where we hire Quad bikes and zoomed around the beach over rocks sand dunes and through streams (definitely going to do this again somewhere). I managed to flip mine whilst dough nutting on the beach, hilarious.
From there we drove back to Auckland to watch the England V All Blacks first test where we got well and truly beaten and the Kiwi's loved given us sh!t about that in the stands. Our comments back where something along the lines of "what's it like having such an underachieving rugby team" they didn't like that so much.
Auckland was pretty rubbish other then the game so we headed south to Wellington, stopping of in Rotorua (which stank) and Taupo. We didn't stay for long in these places basically as there was fcuk all to do there and no-one seemed to be around. Everywhere was dead. New Zealand, other than be a beautiful country, was looking like a place that we didn't want to be for very long. Because of the lack of people we managed to stay off the booze for a while and visit a gym a few times (yes we went to a gym).
Things changed when we got to Wellington and we met up with our pal Scotty from Bromley & Beckenham Hockey club fame and he took us on the town where we watched a Basketball game and got drunk the night before his 'big game'. The following day we woke up hung over and went on a day out to watch Hockey. It was great to watch a real sport again and the drinking on the side line was pretty cool too. After the game, which Scot's team won 5-2 we had a pub crawl all the way back to Wellington stopping off to watch the All Blacks kick England's ass again!!! The dice game was introduced to the Kiwi hockey team and they seemed to enjoy it.
We left Wellington after a quality weekend with Scotty and headed straight to Queenstown to find some people and a night life of some sort. Stopping off only for sleep on route we were there within 24 hours.
And that is where we are today Queenstown and we love it, and I expect we'll stay here for quite a while. We have been Skiing/Boarding already which is amazing as always (but pretty expensive) just waiting for another dump of snow so we can get up there again and go nuts. We are also going to book up our bungy jump as soon as we get the balls to do it. It looks pretty scary to be honest, but we'll get it booked soon and let you all know how it was.
Anyway you'll be happy to know that because we have come out of the sun and into the snow, it's bloody freezing and our tans have faded already. We are gutted! So we may be adding Fiji to our list of countries so that I can pick up a tan before I come home in August. We'll keep you posted.
