Dave And Vicky's Adventure
So after a not so peaceful time in Pa Tong, we travelled up to Khao Lak.
As neither of us had been here before we didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised at how peaceful the area was. Hardly anyone bothering you and not a lot of traffic. We stayed on Khao Lak Wandee Hostel which was nice, just a place to sleep.
As soon we arrived we booked two snorkelling trips. One to the Similian islands and the other to the Surin islands.
First night we went to Viking steakhouse. Where dave ate a massive t bone steak! After that we had a walk along the main street and had a look in the shops.
The next morning we were up nice and early for out trip to the Similan islands. We were taken to the pier were we boarded our speedboat. Once we arrived at the set of islands we stunned by the blueness of the water and the views of the islands. It was gorgeous! Throughout the day we had a couple of snorkelling stops that were unbelievable and also seen some wild dolphins and green turtles! For lunch we sat on one of the islands and had some great thai food. The day was great and we didn't want it to end.
Once we arrived back at the hostel we literally went out for a quick dinner and then went to bed as the next day we were up even earlier.
The Surin islands were next and we thought they would have to be something special to be better than the Similan islands. We departed early and got to the pier again to board a speedboat. This trip was different from the day previous as the sea seemed to be alot rougher. By the time we reached the Surin islands it already looked like we had been snorkelling. The water that git over the sides on the boat was ridiculous.
By the end of the day the Surin Islands proved that they were well better than the Similan. It was truly paradise. The sea was clear and the snorkelling was brilliant, the beaches were the best we have ever been on and there was only a few people there so it was really unspoilt. We also seen a Moken village which is sea gypsies. It was an eye opener to see the difference in culture.
We have loads of pictures that we will upload soon. Next stop Koh Phi Phi.
