...Catching up with Smiley & Ross. Wild lizards. Q1 Buiding...
I've spent the last few days in Surfer's Paradise enjoying the weather, taking in the sights and catching up with Smiley and Ross from home. Also spent quite a bit of time with Alex and Ashley as they drove me down to the Gold Coast and visited for a day.
Spent the days mostly sunbathing on the long strip of white sand that makes up Surfer's Beach and going for walks. On one wander I stumbled upon a Memorial Cascade Garden that was a huge water feature of tropical plants, rockeries and plants. The crazy thing about this place was these huge wild lizards that were everywhere.
Alex, Ashley and me took in some amazing 360° views of Surfers from the observation deck of the Q1 Building which is the 20th tallest building in the world (simply because they've stuck a large pole on the top of it). The views were spectacular and it's amazing how much water surrounds the area. Some of the houses with boat docks in their gardens are unbelievable.
Smiley & me (or should I say Daisy & Abbey) also hit the town and headed out for a few drinks. We had a lovely evening catching up and getting very drunk on Mojitos (and so did our aliases). Afterwards we caught up with Ross and carried on at their apartment which has great views of the beach and Surfers. It was brilliant seeing them again and they're both getting on really well here and having a great time. Really happy for them.
I'm off to Byron Bay tomorrow to carry on with my adventure.
