Next stop on the list is York!!! After a bit of a drive to get there from Badby and not the best of weather, we finally arrived. Our place of rest was the shoulder of mutton, a pub located about 20 mins walk from the heart of York. After settling in, we decided it was time for lunch so we headed into town. On our way in we came across the Tap and Spiel, a cute little pub with guest beer and a cider on tap with an alcohol percentage of 7.5% - only half a pint for me please!!!
After lunch we continued into the city and then it started to rain - again!!! After taking shelter, the rain eased up and we plodded along the cobblestone roads. First stop - York Minster. Currently, the council is spending 10 million pounds on a facelift for York Minster. Inside YM it is impressive and so worth the visit. As I have said so far during the trip, the history is just remarkable and what has been preserved for future generations to see is commendable. After YM it was on to the Jorvik Centre. York was discovered by the Vikings and this centre is a tribute to York's founders. Once again, extremely impressed on the centre and the displays found inside the centre - well worth a look!!
It was then time to catch up with Pazz and leave him and Sean alone to do some proper catching up. So for the next few hours I wandered the streets of York, ducking into coffee shops every time the skies opened up. I then finally caught up with the boys and had a pint of cider and then it was time for dinner. We managed to avoid the masses of football fans watching the England game and settled for Thai. After a great meal and one last drink it was time to say goodbye to Pazz and
make our way home for some well deserved sleep!!!
