Well we couldn't get out of Glasgow fast enough - got a cab out to the airport, checked in and waited. One thing that we have struggled with over here is decent coffee and the fact that they don't do flat whites. We finally went against our instinct and got coffee from Starbucks which sold flat whites, so Sean asked what the difference between a flat white and latte was over here, there response, one came in a cup and one came in a glass and the flat white was stronger - it was the first and last time we saw flat white on a menu.
Finally it was time to catch our flight. To my horror it was a little prop plane lucky the flight was only an hour!! Flight went reasonably well except for one bit of turbulence!!
After landing we organised a sim card to use while we were in Ireland and caught a cab to our hotel. We were staying in the temple bar district which is the nightlife area of dublin . The drive in from the airport was interesting in the sense that we soon realized that road rules go out the window on Irish roads!!
After checking in at the hotel we contacted our friend Eoin (wheels) to see when we could catch up. As we had time to have lunch before he arrived we headed downstairs to the bar where there was an extremely helpful bartender - first tick for Ireland!!!
We also soon realized that Dublin was going to be busy that night due to the band Westlife performing their final concert ever to 80,000 people!!!
Wheels finally arrived and our pub crawl began!!!
Pub after pub, pint after pint, we were definately shown the highlights of Dublin and to top the evening off we went to a pub where wheel's friends were having a trad session - it was absolutely amazing. We learnt about the etiquette involved when watching these sessions and it was incredible that musicians would just turn up and join in. All young musicians but do very talented and the fact that they were keeping their Irish traditions well and truly alive!!!
We decided to call it a night - 8 pints later I was well and truly ready to call it a night and get some well needed sleep!!!
