Thursday 9th April Panama Canal Today is our transit of The Panama Canal. We went through the canal two years ago but this time we are going in the other direction starting at the Pacific side. We passed under the Bridge of the Americas just before 7o'clock and about half an hour later got to the first set of locks - the Miraflores Lock. The two chambers here raise the ship up 54 ft. Tuesday 7th April Puntarenas, Costa Rica Puntarenas is a port on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is situated on a four mile isthmus. We arrived early this morning and the temperature was already very high. After leaving the ship there was a long pier to walk along and we spotted some rays swimming by the pier. Friday 3rd April Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Over the last three days we have sailed south back into the Tropics. We have anchored at Cabo San Lucas which is on the southernmost tip of the Baja Californian Peninsular of Mexico. The ship is anchored near the Land's End rock formation which includes El Arco, a lovely natural arch. Tuesday 10th February Cruising by Easter Island This afternoon we are due to cruise by Easter Island. We are not stopping unfortunately, but will sail slowly by about a mile from shore. Easter Island or Rapa Nui is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. The nearest inhabited island is Pitcairn which is 1,289 miles away.
