We are going on a glacier tomorrow which looks a bit like this picture. New Zealand is very wet and reasonable cold i haven't put nearly all my layers on yet mind you so i have been fine so far. I have been spending much of my time on the bus at the moment so we haven't done that much!! Now i have been on the glacier, definately one of the trip highlights!! We started at 10 past 8 in the morning going over to the glacier shop to get all our equipment sorted out, spikes on our shoes and everything! We had about an hour walk to the base of the ice from there and thats when it started to get really fun. We not only climbed a pretty sheer face, with steps cut into the ice and we squeezed through crevasses and ice tunnels!! We spent all day walking through the glacier and my legs didn't recover for 3 days, i am very unfit. Worth it though!!
