We have been at Cairns for nearly a week now and we have only had 1 day without rain, quite frustrating!!!!!!We have been out and about every day but things just dont look quite the same when it is wet and overcast. We went up to Karanda on monday and had a lovely morning in the misty rain and we were only a few kms back down the hill when traffic came to a stanstill, seems there had been an accident further down and it would be a 2 hour wait,so we turned around and went the long way back via Mareeba and the Atherton ranges which was quite lovely.
We visited Cairns wharf area and their artificial beach and also went and had a look at all the northern beaches that we have stayed at over the years, and we were pleasently surprised to see that not a lot has changed which is really unusual in this day and age.
Went to Port Douglas yesterday and it is a triving little town,it is obviously the tourist mecca,as all the little cafes and shops were very busy and the beach was very busy even though it was overcast. The marina was the only place that didn't seem to be doing so well, most of the shops were empty and only the eateries actually facing the actual marina were doing any good.
It has taken me this long to write my blog as the internet signal here is shocking and keeps dropping out every ten minutes and I get so frustrated that I just give up in disgust,so hopefully I get this one finished. There are no pictues at the moment as my card reader has died and I have to get a new one.

Weidis Pizza?Prawns?Pork? Not exactly bagiarn priced tucker.Perhaps a lesson in good old home economics would have enabled these bogans to have adequate funds to properly feed the children. But then again, you are probably right in saying that the beer/wine funds would then have to be curtailed.
