It was so nice to visit Nan, a truly welcoming unspoilt part of Thailand. Not only are the streets lovely and clean, the people are so friendly and helpful. More than once we have been asked if we need any help by young Thai people. In the evening they have a delicious Thai food market where you buy your food and then sit on mats warmed by the sun to eat it in companionship with the people of Nan. The area around the city is very flat and on the edge of a mountainous region and surrounded by National Parks. Our hotel was slightly on the edge of town but as usual we managed to hire two bikes to cycle around and visit the many lovely temples. We also went on a tram sightseeing tour which was unfortunately in Thai. It was probably very interesting as the other passengers seemed to enjoy it immensely and clapped enthusiatically when it finished. All we managed from the guide was "this old house - take picture". So we did!
It is an area of Thailand we would like to explore further but as we are starting a new workaway in Uttaradit we can only manage three days here before we take the bus on Monday.
