We have a couple of days here in Toronto, before we fly home. Yesterday we took the train and bus around Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls. Distances seem a lot smaller than they actually are on the map as it took over 2 hours to get there.
Once we arrived we decided to walk from the bus depot up the river to the falls which was a thirty five minute walk. We were glad we did as we got to see the river Niagara further down stream and the many bridges. Seeing the falls gradually come into view was very exciting. I hadn't realised, until looking at the map, that the US border runs down the middle of the river and that the falls fall away from the US side. The better view is definitely from the Canadian side it is so spectacular.
We had an ideal day, very humid but cloudy, so the spray rose straight up as if it were smoke, away from the crowds so we didn't get too wet. I made Chris walk right up to the top of the falls and the shear power of all that water is quite breathtaking. It was a fitting and to our trip and the bus journey there was worth it.
Then after taking lots of photos we treated ourselves to a giant maple syrup and walnut icecream cone to set us up for the return trip! It took us nearly three hours to get back to Toronto, so it was a very long day.
