Breakfast on the boat and then it was time to work our way back to the jetty - a beautiful place and it has been designated a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1994. Already want to go back for longer...
We worked our way back to Hanoi, stopping off along the way, and then went to a local restaurant for lunch. Good to take it easy and just watch the busyness of the Old Quarter go by. Then some of us headed off to the water puppet show - a traditional vietnamese show. It was very good - even though we had no idea what they were singing about!
A quick wander round to get food for our overnight train, finish packing and then we headed to Hanoi train station for our 12 hour overnight journey on the reunification express to Hue. We were in 4 berth cabins - 3 of us were sharing with a vietnamese man with a prosthetic leg. So, every time he wanted to get up to the top bunk he would take his leg off, put it under the bottom bed, and somehow manage his way onto the bed! We even managed a few 'chats' with him - us speaking english and he speaking vietnamese.,,,even one of the guards came in and sat with us and had a 'chat' too!!
The good news was that the journey was fine - the bad news was that it took over 15 hours and so we didn't reach Hue until 12.15. A long night....
