Bangkok, well i'd deffinatly say what you think of a place depends on the people you meet along the way! And damn did we meet sum crazy people! headed from Kanchanaburi to Asha guest house in 'the kok' with Dom, Anna and Rosie and met a whole new bunch of crazys there. Dom is a regular at Asha (it no where near Koh San road) and it was pretty alright. Met Andy, Nick and Frank on arriving and it wasnt long before we were all off out again, more drinks anyone?!
Nana Plaza!!!???!!! GO-GO bars, bucking Rodeo, live sex shows and Lady boy bars! Wicked if not a tad strange! Deffo made for an interesting evening :oD Having worked down 'canal street' in Manchester i wasnt shocked by the lady boys found it pretty funny and loved every minute. But the go-go bars were another thing.... girls who have been sold into it by their families and generally didnt look happy more bored out of thier skull. i mean seriuosly if your trying to sell your self the least you could do is crack a smile?! and the ping pongs? no, i didnt make it to a ping pong show (though from what coop told us it sounded pretty interesting and a bit sick) but at the go-go bars you can buy ping pongs and then throw them at the girl on stage who you like best? its like giving them a tip, but in reality they dont actually get much at all.
After a coupke of nights at Asha and having never been to Bangkok, the three of us decided that we wanted to move over to Koh San road and get into the thick of the backpacker scene! And i loved it! Quite a few people i had spoke to said how much they hated Bangkok the 1st, 2nd n 3rd times they visited, i loved it the first time and probebly will next time i go back. We still saw the guys from Asha and ended up at a few very dodgy clubs but it was all great. 'The Club' on Koh San is wicked the buckets were deffo flowing and i remember being really quite drunk AGAIN!
Shopping shopping shopping!!!!! Oh god the shopping! Love it! Bought tones of lush new clothes spent way too much and might have bought two new bags, which i needed of course. Oh, got a new tattoo whilst i was there to! On my foot like ive been wanting for yonks, dragon fly with swirly pattern etc looks quite simple but i really like it.
honestly, had a wicked time in bangkok, met up with Carly from home and all in all spent way too much time drinking and not enough time sight seeing but i dont feel like a missed out on anything. Bangkok has a huge underground drity side and although i didnt see much of it i saw enough to get a feel for the place and the people. Didnt even see the Palace the floating market or anything but theres always next time :oD
Heading up to Chiang Mai next for Songkran (Thai new year) looking forward to it but not so much looking forward to the 15 hour train journey! Will be good to be up north...
