Siem Reap was nothing like phnom pen. It was a beautiful clean city, filled with incredible people. The city itself was pretty touristy and there were sections of these crazy stunning hotels that people stayed in to see Angkor Wat.
So Angkor Wat was just as beautiful as you would imagine it. We actually got a guide, so we learned so much cool info! Like how the temple turned from a Buddhist temple to a Muslim temple so many times and that's why lots of the carvings have been changed. Siem Reap also has great shopping, awesome food, and incredible fresh markets. We went to eat some pretty neat food one day at the market, but I couldnt tell you what it was, except for the crickets! Which were awesome!
There is a place called Pub Street which is, in fact a street with lots of pubs. Our hostel told us that the power in the hostel tends to go out from time to time, but for only about 5 minutes (the reason why, I'm still not sure as our hostel told us it's because Thailand supplies all of the power). One night, whilst on pub street all the power went out! It was so scary! Everything was pitch black and everyone screamed! After 10 minutes it was back! But it was like something from a movie!
