Adventures of a Global Wanderer
The highlight for today was a classic car tour of the city. Originally this was at 2pm in our itinerary after we had arrived in Havana. But our guide moved it to 5pm which messed up my planning as I had to rush around the city to be back for the 5pm meetup.
There were three cars waiting for our group and we were divided between the three. I was told to go with one of the older couples as it seems our guide wanted to squeeze in with the three single women. I got the front seat however in my car.
We went back past the Capital building where I had been walking an hour earlier so we were going to drive further out to where I hadnt walked to. I was curious if we would see Chinatown.
We didnt see Chinatown which was further in the side streets but we did see an impressive Cathedral my Cuban friend had recommended I visit.
We then passed by the sprawling University Campus and its Roman styled architecture.
We made it Revolution Square somewhere I decided not to walk to as its quite far in the heat and I'm sure the car tour would have brought us here. Disappointingly its just a big paved car park not some central European type square with vendors and patios.
I was making videos along the way and managed to edit them all together on a youtube clip

El Capitolio, Universidad de la Habana, Plaza de la Revolucion, Necropolis Cristobal Colon, Chinese Cemetary, Embassy District, Malecon
We did make a pitstop here to take pictures but its hard to get the two faces on buildings in one shot as they are so far wide. Nearby was Colon Cemetery which you can also pay to go inside but we were late past 5pm.
Nearby was a Chinese Cemetery and statue to Ho Chi Minh. Sitting in the front the exhaust fumes from the car in front were blowing in my face as were were driving too close.
We then stopped in some famous gardens where tv shows and movies are shot but it was meaningless to foreigners. Then we were then back in the Embassy district.
This time I was able to recognize many of the EU and African Embassies as well as Iran. This led us thru a tunnel to the waterfront.
We passed by a hotel Al Capone had stayed in and the heavily fortified US Embassy. Finally we made our way to the Nacionale hotel where the tour ended.
