Arrived in Cape Town went straight to the hostel which is cool as it has bar downstairs and the people are friendly. We had dinner in the bar and had some drinks with a few locals so that was niiice.
Second day here we went for a walk around just to get to the know the place a bit more, saw some markets and a museum. All is good.
After our first few days settling in we did plenty of exploring and saw a lot of the wonders of Cape Town, like the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront which is a tourist area but really is quite incredibly beautiful with all the boats and restaurants and Afrikaan musical bands all playing various types of music. We also walked to Bo'kaap where the houses are all diferent colours which is quite an effect.
One thing we have noticed and discussed, and i'm sure you'll agree, is the continuous presence of homeless coloured persons. And the way the coloured are still treated as lower class, with a great example as we walked down Buitenkant street just round the corner from our hostel (which btw is rather good) where a chubby white person bossed three coloured persons carrying over-sized heavy boxes from the back of a truck into the back of a shop. No equipment to get the boxes out, nothing to help carry the boxes, just the white man giving them orders.
