After breakfast, I went to Budget to get a car for the day. A nice Mazda, plenty big enough for our little group of four of us then driving towards Grand Canyon National Park. A Brittish guy gave us his entrance ticket (which is valid for a week), so no need to pay the $25 for the car. The drive itself was already amazing, going through forest, plains and finally towards the south rim of the Canyon. When you are about to see it, it feels as if you are in line for a roller coaster or just get really excited or nervous even. You walk up to the rim and suddenly there it is. It is not possible to describe it with words and even in the pictures it does not look anything like the fast majestic scale that it has. It leaves you breathless and very humble in this enormous landscape. We walked around, took pictures and visited the museum. Please just check the pics on my facebook and hopefully you will get some idea of what is going on there.. On another viewpoint, you could clearly see the Colorado river run in the 4000 foot deep canyon. From rim to rim the canyon is 10 miles (16 km) on average.
The Grand Canyon is so much more than I could ever suspect it could be. Wow.
