Deb's Travels...
Captains Log. Star Date 07.10.05
Queenstown. Is very cold, very very cold! But very beautiful too... the views are unreal, snow capped mountains etc etc... How I pictured NZ to be...
So, we arrived here a couple of days ago and hit the pub first off, after a few hours of drinking we were ready for a pub snack, note the use of the word 'snack' there, what arrived on our table was a feast. The feast of all feasts! More nacho's than anyone could want or ever need! Too much food even for greedy Stuart!! A point worth noting if you ever come here, don't eat for a couple of days before ordering food in the rock bar.
We've had a browse around all the shops and purchased some warm clothes to help us through our time in NZ... its gonna be a chilly one! We had a rest in an Irish bar while shopping, situated along the river front, it was nice in there, warm and dry too! Which always helps when you are neither whilst walking around!
This morning we ventured off to do a 'hike' up to the top of the gondola's... we were distracted along the way by mini golf, which claimed to be the best indoor mini golf-ever! Well in my vast experience of indoor mini golf courses, I can safely say it was! There was a little town with an airport and ski resort etc and a space centre, with steaming rocket ship! The final score ended 84 to 105 I won! No of course I didnt... but we both got a lolly out of the 'candy store' (hole 18) and a free coke at the end! What a splendid way to spend a morning!
We carried on to do our trek up the mountain side. The first half was spent b****ing and moaning, by myself... and being dragged by my arm up two flights of stairs was definatly not a highlight of the hour long walk! As it flattened out (slightly) it became less of a moaning point for me, by this time I had succumbed to the fact that I was on the side of a big mountain and was headed up to the top regardless!
Along the way we saw a dead possum, which was cool.
Once we arrived at the top, me panting, the views were awesome. Definately worth going up there (perhaps take the gondola next time!) just for the views...
While up at the top we partook in some 'luging' which was really fun, and they went pretty damn fast too, there is a point on the course where its like a step and it catches you unawares, it was really really really cold on our hands up there tho. And we got to wear some very stylish helmets too which Stuart particularly enjoyed, so worth it just for the fashion statement in my eyes!
We got the gondola back down (thank god) and managed to not pay for it too, bonus! Ha ha, tramps.
Stuart has booked up to do the NEVIS bungee jump tomorrow morning. For those who know about these things, its the highest in the southern hemesphere. 134 metres, 8 second freefall!! So thats the plan for tomorrow, pics will be added of him cacking his pants asap!
Just incase, here is his will:
Bike: Spot (you need the exercise you fat git!)
Car: Aaron
XBox: Deb
Savings: Mum and Dad
thanks, its been nice knowing you!
Tis all for now!
Over and out xxx
