Heading towards Malawi. People noticeably poorer. Did a sunset cruise along the Kafue River and stayed in a riverside bush camp. Were entertained by local dance and drumming under the moon. Magical.

Travelled through Zambia to Livingstone where we stayed for 4 nights. Campsite was on the banks of the Zambezi, and was infested with monkeys. Poor Genna had some run-ins with them. Saw the stunning Victoria Falls, which exceeded all expectations. On the second day we did an all day package of flying fox, abseil and gorge swing. Not loving heights, I shat myself. Abseiling down a 100 metre cliff wasn't too bad, but then walking down the same drop face-first left ...

Another day of game drives. Saw lions feeding at a zebra carcass, but couldn't get close enough for a great view. Stacks of giraffe, elephant, wildebeest, ostrich, zebra, secretary birds, bustards and guinea fowl. Really want to see some big cats up close now. Going to get up at 3am and walk to the watering hole to see if we can catch something amazing there.

Etosha seems a pretty poor area. Many beggars. Did our first bush drive. Saw an abundance of zebra, giraffe, elephant, oryx, springbok, kudu and jackals. Campsite is set in 20,000 square km national park. At a floodlit waterhole we saw giraffes, elephants and rhinos all drinking together. Amazing! Game stew for dinner was fantastic. Sat in tent now with loads of wild animal sounds echoing around the tents and loads of jackals running about the campsite. Gen has e...

Journeyed up to Cape Cross Seal sanctuary. Thousands of seals on the beaches....the smell was too much for some. Traveled on to Spitzkoppe to see some ancient bushmen rock paintings on an Ayers Rock feel backdrop. Campsite was stunning against these giant red outcrops. Cold wind at night. Freezing in the morning.
