First few days in NY have been amazing. Have seen a few of the main sights including the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street and Mc Donalds! Staying via Couchsurfing with an interesting guy Joe Che in a rougher part of Brooklyn. A real eye opener! A fabulous few days with Anna & Dave in Canada. Did the super tall CN Tower on the first day, then attended our first top-flight baseball match (Toronto Blue Jays beating the New York Yankees). Did a tour of Ontario, visiting a lodge in the forrest and seeing a moose in the road and a beaver dam. The countryside is beautiful! Hired bikes and headed into Hell's Gate National Park at 6.45am. We weren't expecting the huge amount of wildlife as we cycled around the 14km circuit. Had zebra, pumba, giraffes, buffalo, springbok and kudu within a few metres of our path. Felt a bit vulnerable in places, especially when we saw large paw prints on the track (think they were hyena). Said bye to lovely Wadu family and got lift on the back of 125 motorbikes to the centre. Got mutatu (small taxi van) 25km to the beautiful banks of Lake Navaisha. Got beautiful apartment overlooking the lake. Visited the home (Elsamere) of Joy and George Anderson, famous for the Born Free story about raising lions. Saw the jeep in which George was shot in 1989! Never seen such an array of brightly coloured birds flying about in their natural environment as we did...
