Debbie and Rod's 2011 Travels
Arrived in Riga, the capital city of Latvia, a small eastern european country, located between Lithuania and Estonia. A very different city to Stockholm, that is struggling with poor economic times, high unemployment and long standing political and social conflict between the Latvian and Russian nationals.
Received a warm welcome from Martin (Rod's son) and Anita (his girlfriend) and her family with a traditional sunday BBQ, Latvian style, and a game of petanque and a sauna for the men, in a home built backyard brick sauna with a wood fire! Rod and Anita's father also kept up a steady drinking pace with home made moonshine! Mixed with the sauna it was quite an experience!

lisa Haha! Sounds very Latvian...
Jesse pétanque comes from la petanca in the Provençal dialect of the Occitan language, deriving from the expression pès tancats, meaning "feet together"[1] or more exactly "feet anchored". Knowledge is power.
