Left Coco Beach late Thursday morning in the rain but still warm. Managed to dodge the rain long enough to have lunch on the beach (actually in the car on the beach!) on route to St Augustine. By early evening on Thursday when we arrived at St Augustine, it was torrential.
Spent today (Friday) on a self guided walking tour of Old St Augustine. St Augustine is the oldest city in America, having been discovered by the Spaniard Ponce de Leon in the 1500s. Spent a considerable amount of time at the Castille de San Marcos where we were lucky enough to watch a real canon being fired!! The temperature has dropped dramatically to the high 50s / low 60s and tonight is forecast 41 degrees. The locals love it!!! Tomorrow we leave Florida had head north to the Carolinas via Savannah in Georgia and although the weather is set to warm up, as we head further north it will get colder. There has already been snow on the Appalachian Mountains which we are due to hit late next week!!!
Unfortunately, the shuttle launch scheduled for today (for the 3rd time) has been postponed once again and is now not due to go off until the end of November. We may be lucky enough to see it as we will be back in Florida by then.
