from backpacker to Austrayian
So much has happened since I last wrote this, starting at the begining. Cloncurry race day. A great day that meant we all got to get dressed up and watched some horse racing. It was a brilliant day and nice to get all dressed up and even put some heels on! I know first time since travelling. Glad I have been carrying them round for a year now.
The following weekend was Easter weekend, a long weekend means we have to do something. The boys decided that camping at lake julleous was the way to go. So we packed up the utes and headed into the outback with the dogs of course. When I say camping, I use the term loosly. We had a table, bbq, and not a single tent in site. Most of us slept in utes or on swags on the floor, oh and a boat with wakeboard and doughnut. This was auzzy camping in style :-). Awsome weekend and no I still cant wakeboard, it is a working process and I will do it one day. The weekend was filled with with a mixture of the above with a bit of walking and caving too. Because if you see a cave 50 meters above the water level what do you think? well of course we thought gotta climb that! we get up there see an 8" snake skin outside and still think it is a good idea to climb inside. Nothing made the boys jump except for the odd bat so I thought, gotta try that. apparently I am a hardcore pom! ha ha.
After that weekend I flew down to Noosa to meet Danny, my boss. I came to stay with his family; his wife and 5 children. I came to work in the office here for a change to Cloncurry. The family are brilliant and so welcoming. I told them I would mention them all so just for them: Chelsea is the best in the world(hijacked), Gabby, Corey, Zac and Nate.
After a week I went on holiday to Fraser island, 2 nights camping and 4X4 driving with a few nights at rainbow beach. Was an amazing experience, met some brilliant people and learnt to drive on sand. We visited places like Indian head, champagne pools, Eli creek, lake mckenzie and my favourite lake wabby. This was more like camping that I know except we had cables that hook up to speakers so we had music whilst cooking, there was even a seperate tent for people to dance to, the hooked up ipods. Next place on my holiday destination was Brisbane, I met up with Sophie and we partied hard, the first night was spent catching up on gossip and dancing with strangers, the second night was pretty similar with a lot more alcohol and more dancing. We did do some brilliant site seeing too, we got on a hop off, hop on bus ticket; a first for me. It was a fantastic idea and we saw so much of Brisbane that we wouldnt have seen, even the Queensland museum and are gallery (yes girls I found someone that enjoys museums too :-p) The next day was a trip to the Xxxx beer factory, a brilliant excuse to trial a few different beers in the middle of the afternoon, not that I need much of an excuse. Overall a brilliant week away.
My week away did make me realise how much I had left the backpacking trail behind me and how much I didnt miss it. I was told that I sounded like an Australian over and over again, even slated for some of the ozzy words I now find myself using. I have to admit i do get confused occasionally, the word togs had me for a while the other day (swimmers). It may be disguised as English but it isnt a language I have heard before but expanding my vocab and learning again.
