September passed without too much drama, working all week and going to the beach or chilling out at the house at the weekends. I had ben busy on the hunt for a new car but me being me needed to have the best and would only except a Rav4 with the inevitable move back to Cloncurry getting closer it looked like a car was out of reach for me. Then when I had almost given up hope Britt rang me and said I think I have just found your car. She had been taken pictures and was going to pick me up to have a look when we picked the kids up from school. It was a blue 98 Rav4 world cup edition. It was owned by a 92 year old man and hadn't been looked after very well on the inside AKA it was filthy but with a bit of love and car it would be a great car. It seemed to work fine so I offered him $1000 taken as seen without registration (road tax to the English people reading this). Buying a car in Australia is very not too different to buying a car at home you have to have a road worthy which is like the MOT but you only have to do this when you buy the car and when you sell the car. Once you have the road worthy you can go to the transport department and register the car, this is where they give you the license plates for the car. Well I got all this done on a Friday afternoon because I wanted the car for the weekend but the mechanic had not finished fixing it. So Britt and I cam in at about 8pm and attached the number plates to the car in the dark with only her head lights for light (should have brought a torch moment). But I finally had my very own car at home J
The next day I took it to the shops, because I could and paid someone to clean it, this was of course not to my standards so the following weekend I spent 3 hours going over the inside making sure everything nook and craney was as clean as could be. I of course also make it girly with some nice seat covers and smellys.
The week after that it was time to go to Cloncurry. A guy called Matt needed a ride to Cloncurry as he would be working with us so he arrived at the house a little after 6 and we set off for the 22 hour drive along very straight roads. It was a long drive but I was determined to drive it all myself, in my new car and me being the stubborn person I am I wanted to prove that I could do it. In the middle of nowhere you see some interesting animals, we saw wild goats, wild horses , emus, some weird looking birds and of course lots of kangaroos and cows. I had to stop at one point because there were about 60 cows on the road just chilling out with a women trying to round them up on a quad bike. We did get a little lost as the sat nav took us a weird direction and we ended up staying in a strange little town which only attraction was an ant meat park. We had to have a look at this park but the only defining feature was a very large ant attached to a poll. Strange little town but the food was good and the beer was cold so that was fine by me. We set off again the next day at about 6.30 after the free breakfast with the room. We got into Cloncurry about 5pm and sat down with the boys and had a beer or two or three J Ended up at the pub and in true cloncurry style a house party. A good welcome back to the curry.
The first week back has gone so fast and it is already Saturday again. I have met up with some old friends been back in the running and swimming routine and have settled back in nicely.
