Living in Cairns, Australia.
After the first day of relaxing or rather recovering from the hangover, we got on the job hunt. Me being stupidly lucky got an email back from the 30 odd that I sent asking me to come in and meet them. That was it, job found on the second day. Staying at gilligans meant that there was no time to sleep. The next 5 days passed very fast in a whirlwind of drinking, working and the occasional couple of hours sleep fitted inbetween. We were lucky with the group of people in our dorm, 3 germans, a brazilian, american and an aussie meant for some fun drinking sessions and they were always ready to go out after I got back from work. After a few days another email popped up offering me another job. Although I liked my work I knew the money wasnt what it was meant to be and therefore decided to take the new job. So after the first week I was sleep deprived, had two jobs and was loving life.
We decided to move hostels because of the lack of sleep and that night I went to sleep at 6pm and slept for 13 hours, was a well deserved rest plus the next day was a 16 hour day at work between the agency that had given me a shift and my new job at the restaurant. The hostel we moved to was called green guesthouse. it was very nice but the same price as gilligans and as the eclipse got closer things were getting booked up. we were looking for a house to move into but were not lucky in our search. We ended up going out one night and woke up at 9.50. Check out was at 10. Jade got dressed and went to reception to see if we could extend. she was told no and given 5 minutes for us to pack our stuff and move (all this on a hangover). We found somewhere else to stay but it was far out of town so of we went walking in the heat with our backpacks. Just keep walking, just keep walking was the song of choice that kept me going.
After a couple of days there and Jade got a job cleaning the hostel and I moved hostels were I also got a job cleaning so I didnt have to pay for my accomodation. The Jack hostel was to become my new home. The hostel was really friendly and very quickly I made friends and settled into this new life I created for myself.
