Having travelled for two months and stayed in basic cheap accommodation with a couple of visits to beaches along the way, I did the beach visit properly and had a great week at the Samet Cabana resort on the Ao Wong Deuan beach on the island of Ko Samet. Quiet Golden beaches, great accommodation less than a hundred meters from the beach, and check in straight off a speed boat onto the beach! A bit of luxury, a holiday within my travelling and in the company of Stella to put me right about my beard and for a week to help me make decisions about which elevation to have the sun bed, beer or cocktails with lunch and when to have a dip to cool down in the emerald waters! Had a few days in Bangkok first doing the things I missed out on last time and staying at a really nice hotel with panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline ( thanks Nick for the introduction). Took a scooter out for the day and found that there are no proper roads on the island which meant a bumpy day with unnerving moments where the sand became very deep and the holes in the road large, there were some steep hills as well where it was just to dangerous for two on a bike so Stella had to walk up these sandy uneven inclines, it was a good day and I managed to find a barber with clippers to take my hair back to normal, still got the beard though. Visited a beach on the west facing side of the island called Ao Prao and watched a great sunset and had a really good meal, a massive fish which was on a par with the perfect fish I had in Ayutthaya in Thailand, this very picturesque beach contains the more expensive resorts of the island. This was a perfect way to refresh for my travels onward to Cambodia and to relax and enjoy the tremendous Thai island beaches I had heard so much about and top up my tan, it really was perfect, the sun, beach, food, accommodation and company made it a very special week. As I waved goodbye to Stella at Bangkok airport my thoughts were of home and the family and friends I have not seen in a while, I do miss you all but at the same time I am enjoying seeing so many incredible things and meeting some great people so I will keep going for a bit longer. After saying bye to Stella it was my time to say goodbye to Thailand again, I am sure I will be back after Cambodia.
