Jeremy's Journey
Hi Everyone,
Laura and I arrived in Surfers Paradise yesterday afternoon…It's only been about 16 years since I was last year. I recognized nothing until we pulled into Hi-Surf, when the tennis court and indoor swimming pool began to ring some bells. The only thing is, is that they used to be so much bigger! The pool is waaaaay smaller than it used to be. Also, Simon's blood is still stained into the tiles next to the pool where he fell…
Last night after dinner, Laura was exhausted and went to bed earlier than me. I stayed up for about 3 hours watching Cyclone Yasi. Pretty incredible images and reporting. Its amazing that we are fairly close yet felt no effects from.
Grandma was extremely clear that it was very important that no sand whatsoever get into the apartment. I have never been so nervous about making a mess in my life. I just won't go on the beach for the rest of the trip!
I was told that the insurance didn't allow me to drive Grandma and Grandpa's car. However, before I left Melbourne, Richard told me that Antony had driven the car… But he did it with his L plates. Fortunately I grabbed Ant's L plates, so now I've had no problem driving the car!
Today Laura and I went for a long walk down the beach. We put on a ton of sunscreen, but still managed to come back burnt. Laura is now the splitting image of a lobster. I would send a picture, but she would probably kill me!
Tomorrow we head to Byron for a couple days.
