We knew we were in India when got in taxi at airport Dan closed door and the door seal fell off !! Hyderabad a large amazing city. Dan had some well worn leather flip flops bought 5+ years ago for £5 the toe thong broke in Phuket I saved them the first day in hyderabad out walking saw a lady sat on pavement mending shoes she repaired it for 10 rupee -- about 12 p -- Dan gave her 20 both her and Dan thrilled !
Walked loads round back streets amazing how people live went into a large hotel for a drink water was rushing down steps reception flooded water coming through ceiling and light fittings they were scraping it off reception desk and floor with large scrapers I -- Desrie said ---oh dear is there a problem answer " oh no madam just cleaning " !!!!
It was Diwali we sat on roof top restaurant watching amazing fireworks they went on from around 7 pm until well after midnight so beautiful ! Also saw two girls making patterns on the pavement with chalk , everywhere there were chalk drawings for the festival . Went to Golconda Fort very impressive ruins spent most of the day there then found out there was a light show at night telling the story of the fort so the following day we went along not quite as impressive as we were expecting but interesting.
Began to feel like royalty everywhere went people looking at us waving and saying hello when went to the Fort and Tombs people stopped us and asked if they could have their photo taken with us !! We only saw about half dozen other Europeans while there !!
Hyderabad large city but lots to see everyone very friendly as normal for india and usual strange / fun / ridiculous. / silly things see all the time that could only happen in India !! eg total chaos on roads seemingly no rules !! Really enjoyed time spent there
