Stayed at Port Arthur so we could get ferry over to Queenscliff to start the journey down the great Ocean Road. On the way to the Ferry we stopped at a car boot sale where we had a great time bantering with some stall holders. The flies are such a problem they really can spoil things sadly and while a was haggling over a box (10 kgs!!) of peaches Denise was having her hair covered in Deet cream to keep the flies off. It was so funny although Den didn't think so as she had washed her hair the night before and here it was covered in cream!! I got my box of peaches for 5 dollars - we really didn't need a box but they were so cheap and every time Den complained about her hair I told her she had to eat another peach- amazing how quick we got through them!! Got to the ferry, super trip to Queenscliff and then started the journey along the Great Ocean Road. Everything they say about this road is so true it was great we had the car as we could stop whenever we wanted. After trying to find accomodation along the way we soon realised to stay in this area was way over our budget so the only thing we could do was travel inland where we should get a more reasonable place!! After driving for 12 hours and ready to drop we found a place that was still expensive but our standards but acceptable. The problem was that for the money we were paying we expected the Ritz - what we got wasn't even clean and there were so many dead flies in the room it was horrible but we were both so tired we just went to sleep. Overslept in the morning and really had to move to be out by 10 and drive back down to the ocean. We contiued doing the rest of the coast and again you see the most spectacular sights and you really appreciate what this country has to offer. Next stage is to travel to Melbourne and back to city life. Will miss the car, its given us freedom to explore a lot more of the country, which really is fantastic.
