Woke up and decided to catch the bus to Bangkok (2 hour trip) so after eventually finding bus station we left Pattaya, with good memories. Bangkok was unbelievable and it took 2 hours to get from the North bus Station to the South Staion. Traffic is crazy but everybody stays so tolerant of everybody else. Cars and lorries pull out from side streets in front of other vehicles but nobody gets upset. Scooters and motobikes nip in & out all over the place and there are thousands of them but still nobody gets upset. In amongst all this traffic some bikes have up to 4 people on them (including babies!!) and that is not unusual. It seems so dangerous but everybody just takes responsibilty fo themselves. Definately no health & safety here and the country is much better off for it. People, even in the city are very helpful. We met a girl called May, who is studying economics in Bangkok. She has invited us to eat at her parents restuarant when we return to Bangkok to the Airport so we will try to do that. We then decided to get another bus and travel to Kanchanaburi that night rather than stay in Bangkok as we needed somewhere quieter!! Arrived here last night and neither of us got any sleep at all. This is backpackers paradise and a group of them were leaving today so they had a party. Den & I are quietly tucked up in our tin shack (honest) but might just as well have been with them. In fact thats what we should have done but too late now and we've decided we like the walking zombie look! Managed to walk to the bridge - our shack is right on the River Kwai and there is a lot of history in the area. Walked back after having had a good look around and both went to bed (2p.m)
Time 5.30 p.m We are going into the town to get some clothes - we've almost worn our two outfits out!
