Leaving Hoi An today and the sun finally came out - typical. Squeezed in 2 hours by the pool before our waiting driver whisked us to theFinger Hotel Denang. The logo for which repeatedly showed us the finger. Room on the 14th floor which sounds more impressive than it is as hotels indeed all buildings in Vietnam are very thin and have loads of floor. It's to do with a tax on land so every building is squeezed into the minimal footprint.
After a tour of various building sites - David was in charge of the map for a change, we plopped down in shambolic beach bar. Yvonne ordered a coke and received a coconut.
David has spotted that locally there is a Dirty Hoe bar. Being keen gardeners we are expecting a discussion on local flora or at least that's why David says we are going there. unfortunately failed to find Dirty Hoes so went to Czech brewery. Basically full of locals celebrating birthdays. The menu was interesting - see today's photos for examples. Although the frog was tempting we went for a mixed plate starter and some Czech sausages on the side plus of course Czech beer. The mixed starter was basically olives, slices of cheese, sausage and bacon with pate. Eating pate with chopsticks was fun. Then walked to an Australian bar. We were still hungry and continuing the theme ordered sausage from the menu which said it was a baguette sandwich served with chips. 2 sausages appears on a plate with a bottle of ketchup. Still waiting for the rest. Continued on our walking adventure and ended up in a coffee bar close to the hotel. Would have been in the hotel but it tipped it down again. This place was for the locals and when the waitress saw we were sitting down she ran, she did come back with a dusty menu, so we looked confident and pointed at the list. Apparently, and we have no way of confirming this we ordered iced black coffee with condensed milk (only found that at the end) two packets of dried seeds, two glasses of cold green tea and Yvonne grabbed a bottle of coke which also arrived.Sat there for half an hour watching the world run by in wet weather gear fashioned out of plastic sheets, great end to the day.
