Well we have made it. We are on the downward trek now.The sign says 1139 miles west to Los Angeles, 1139 miles east to Chicago.The sign was opposite the Mid Point Cafe.We stopped there and had some ugly crust pie.It was a lovely apple pie with ice cream.The cafe was set up like a little diner.I did take a couple of photos inside.When we were driving across the Texan plains it reached 106f.When we crossed into New Mexico the scenery changed completely.I expected John Wayne to come riding across.The closer we got to Albuquerque the more mountainous it became.it was very spectacular.We came off the interstate and drove through somewhere called Tucumcari.At one stage they had 2000 motel rooms available,but some of them are closed.The ones that are still open have some really good neon signs which must look good at night.Forgot to say that just outside Amarillo, we went to Cadillac ranch(see photo)An eccentric Amarillo millionaire decided to buy 10 old cadillacs and plant them in the ground.You can spray paint your name on them.Well tomorrow we start our 2nd week in the good old US of A.There is definately more to see on this side of the journey.
