Our Year of Adventure
5am came round way too early after all the beers last night but with a few Panadols washed down with Red Bull, David was in the car and off to organize the storage. Back in the house, it was decided that 6 hours was going to be pretty tight to finish everything that needed to be done, so it was divide and conquer. Maria would finish packing & cleaning the house whilst David emptied out the house - some to the Charity Shop and some more boxes to storage.
At 1pm and with time running out, everything that was left in the house was thrown into a trailer and the door was locked for the final time. One last trip to the storage before dropping off the house keys and off to the airport. Well behind schedule, fingers were crossed that the traffic would be OK...thankfully, it was.
There was a brief moment of panic at check in, "You are 5kg over your bag allowance"...the bags had been weighed and re-weighed during packing, how could a mistake have been made? After a quick recount, it was all good to go...the bags would go through to Stockholm and boarding cards were issued - time for a seat, sigh a breath of relief and sink a cold one. There was no time for a second though, the call for boarding was made and it was onto the plane, bound for Brisbane, for the first of four flights that would eventually take us to Lapland...
