Our Year of Adventure
It was not the direction we intended but we needed to go back to Quito to collect the charger that was left in the room on Friday. We checked out and took our bags hoping to get some breakfast on the way to the bus station. None of the cafes were open for breakfast though, we could only get an empanada from a bakery.
A hardware store was open so we managed to buy some duct tape to strap up the slashed backpack.
Not stopping for breakfast, we managed to get an early bus back to Quito. The bus was really full so this time there was no stopping en-route to pick up people at the roadside but straight on to the destination.
We didn't fancy taking the trolley bus just in case that was where the bag was slashed the last time, so we took a taxi instead.
Back to Hotel Yumbo Imperial for the third time, we got our tablet charger back and checked back into room 3, the one we had before. We tied a bright red ribbon round the charger cable, so hopefully it will be a bit more obvious and won't be forgotten again.
We walked town for a bit and then headed down to Calle Ronda for a cup of hot chocolate with chilli.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent searching for accommodation in Cuenca, where we will head tomorrow.
We went back to Calle Ronda for a hot dog, David wanted to try the 49cm long special but Maria persuaded him to settle for a standard one.
Disappointingly, you can't buy alcohol in the supermarkets on a Sunday in Quito and all the bars were shut!!
