We arrived in Sydney early in the morning after the overnight train from Melbourne and it was hot and sunny which was great (although Jem got sunburnt) and I got me shorts out. After a quick stop at the hostel where we were staying (which was great as they let us check in at 10am) we hopped on the next bus and was off exploring. the first stop was the famous fish market where we looked at all the weired local fish and crabs (blue crabs!) and then off to the sydney harbour bridge, opera house and a nice evening stroll around the botanical gardens (gets dark about 5pm) walk around . Had fish and chips next to the opera house.
Friday 9th - Today we relaxed on the world famous Bondi Beach soaking up the tan to top up Jems sunburn and the first time we went in the sea. Which is crystal clear and the surf is great with 3-4ft high waves (great for body surfing). Went for a nice walk around and as we were at the seaside had some more fish and chips. The beach was not to packed and we pretty much had a small section of the beach to ourselfs watching the surfers.
Sat 10th - today we had a lay in and then crusied down to the Zoo which involved a short ferry ride across the harbour which was great in itself. The zoo was massive and to get in we took a skylift. Jem loved all the animals and the bird show was spectacular involving everything from a cockatoo to a giant sea eagle. The best animal we saw was a leapard seal (the only one in captivinty in the world) and that looks like a mean animal.
Sun 11th - last day in sydney in this stint and we were off to manely beach
