We have just finished our first leg of our tour visiting the island of st Lucia for my sisters wedding.
The island is beutiful and senery just perfect. The resort we stayed at had loads of activities to do during the day and more importantly a free bar.
We started off by jumping in the sea as soon as we got settled and pretty much ate and drank our way through the rest of the week. We had a go at all the watersports availble most of which ended up with me and Jem in the drink.
The second day we tried SCUBA diving, so after we swam around a pool in very sexy flippers proving we could breath like Darth Vader, we headed out to sea to a small reef off shore where we dived of a boat (which is hard in flippers) to what seamed like a very long way but ended up only being about 10M deep (which ended up being good as my sister Joanne accedentally inflated her bouyancy aid and shot to the surface!!) Down in the depths we saw reef fish and a lobster the size of my forearm and then went back to the boat the water was crystal clear and the experience was awsome.
On day 3 we all attepted waterskiing which, apart from a 2 second moment where I thought I had cracked it, meant i was falling on either my ass or my face in the water doing the splits as the skis went off in different directions carrying my legs with them.
Day 4 - Wedding day - Gorgous day and fanastic time. The girls all looked radient. The boys all cleared off for the morning so we didnt bump in to the girls so we went up the island to one of the sister resorts where we tried out some kyacking which was great fun and even better taht I didnt capcise however in an attempt to recreate the scene from Hawaii 50 beaching the boat got wiped out sideways on by a wave. Apparently look funny as hell.
Day 5 - We went on a tour of the island going to the famous Pitons, sulphur springs (eggs anyone) and a waterfall that you can swim in. The girls tell me that the waterfall is just like that scene out off the film Cocktail but I couldnt see Elisibeth Shue anywhere!! The evening we settled for a Sunset cruse on Brig Unicorn (AKA the Black Pearl) drinking in the sun and lots of Rum.
Day 6 - The highlight of today was Tubing which is 2 people being pulled around on seperate giant rubber inflatable rings by a speadboat. The spead boat trying to chuck you off by turning bashing the two together. Great fun even when the speedboat turns around and goes over its own wake and the ring flips chucking you in the water. By far the best activity we did all holiday and after we discovered this we when back for more and more. To make it more fun someone sugested going around on our front - We lasted 15 seconds.
We also learnt to sail today which although was not as exciting as the tubing is a good laugh. We discovered the hardest thing about sailing was figuring out which way the wind is going. After thats sorted the rest is easy.
Day 7 - This day we went horse riding down the beach followed by a short ride bareback into the sea.
I rode a very nice horse called Midnight and Jem rode Freckles who was a bit frisky! (the horse) The ride was very scenic as they tried to keep my horse away from the mares as apparently it was the 'peckker of the group'. Jems still walking a bit like John wayne!!
All in all this was one of the best holidays I've ever had a good mix of fun and relaxation. Food was excellent (although I ate way too much), the pool bar great (although I drank too much) and the staff very friendly and helpful. An excellent way to start our trip.
