We exited South Africa and entered Namibia - I am not sure what I really expected of this country as had no prior desire to go there. So we left the Orange River and crossed the border - yeah another stamp!
First stop was a place I had never heard of before - Fish River Canyon - apparently its the 2nd largest canyon in the world! after the Grand Canyon - who knew?
The landscape of Namibia is mainly savana so far, although we have seen numerous deers species like the Orix and Springbox, and countless Ostriches. Megan does a great Ostrich impression too.
The Bus is pretty comfortable and Megan and Danny are sleeping lots :-). When we got to the canyon - it was huge! Seriously I have no idea how something like this is so under developed, and under utilised as a tourist spot - it is very daunting that you can literally walk straight to the edge without anyone around. We did also encounter our first Scorpian which was cool - although Tom (an American travelling with us) are still set on a Scorpian fight :-)
The views are so inspiring, its vastness is simply astonishing. We set up a BBQ that night also right next to the Canyon where we had Coke Chicken - don't mock it before you have tried it - seriously yummy!
On arriving at the camp site Danny and Paul both slepp out of the tents - something Megan has told me she will never do!!!! We had Baboons enter the camp. This is a place I could see how people could really dissappear from Civilisation... there is so little here.
We are heading to a place called Swakpmund in the next couple of days but have a bush camp, and climbing of a sand dune lined up first - I am sure Tidey will love that one - heehee!
The Savanna landscape is supposed to turn into desert very soon, which I am sure will be stunning.
