And yet another first! Our longest train journey - 20 hours, leaving Vancouver in the evening so that some of the more boring scenery is covered in darkness and supposed sleep. We did sleep a little but we only had reclining seats for this leg of the journey so not exactly comfortable - Jill has repeatedly said that one night is an adventure, which Dave did remind her of! Think we'll be grateful we've got a cabin booked for the coming four day/three night journey that we'll be taking from Jasper to Toronto in a couple of weeks time.
Monday saw an early start with a dawn train stop at Kamloops. Many passengers somehow sound asleep but we were awake so took the chance to get off for a while to stretch our legs and look around the train. Jill was quite the train spotter making sure that she photographed both of the engines that are pulling our train slowly but surely through The Rockies. Travelling on The Canadian is an experience we're glad we've included in our trip - Dave says even just for the enormous breakfast, but then he did order the buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and more butter (yes all together!). As we write the catch-up blog entries (ready for posting when we next have connectivity) we are travelling alongside the Fraser River heading into The Rockies. So now we'll stop writing and go and enjoy the view from the Dome Car.
