Breakfast at Owen House is a single sitting at 8:30am with a wake-up call at 8:00am in case any guest might oversleep and inconvenience the staff....it is an odd sort of place! The staff are friendly and the rooms comfortable (if way over chintzed!) but the manager doesn't quite have the social skills to make it a truly comfortable place and we suspect that she's not too easy to work for! McLaughin's Wharf Inn did have another guest staying last night but there was no sign of him at breakfast so we had the place and Anne's attention to ourselves again. So today we achieved all of the things we failed at yesterday! The sun was shining when we got up so we knew the whale-watching trip would definitely go ahead. After breakfast we drove down to Red Cove Point this time and walked along the trail path, much of which was on boardwalk over boggy ground. We had a most substantial breakfast and enjoyed chatting to our hosts Gerry and Jane who had no other guests at the end of their season. After checking out we payed a brief visit to the Falls which were quite impressive despite having much less water flowing than say in Spring.
