Today was effectively a rest day from hikes for us. We had wanted to thank Ruth for her generosity in letting us use her condo so we'd agreed to take her out to lunch in Calgary where she had her main home. Calgary is 100km south east of Canmore but with a good main highway so only took a little over an hour of uneventful driving. Calgary had been a Winter Olympics venue and we saw the ski jump area to our right on the way into the city.
Fortunately Ruth's apartment block was easy to find and she'd spotted our red hire car parking up so she was down to meet us while we were still trying to find an entrance. The building had shops on the ground floor and what proved to be an excellent restaurant - Cassis Bistro. Jill sampled the charcuterie platter whilst Ruth and Dave both fancied the scallops. The food was very good so Ruth is lucky to have this spot on hand and we were pleased to have given Ruth a really good lunch.
Ruth was a delight to spend time with and we chatted all afternoon back up in her apartment. Ruth has a sister in England so we very much hope we can have them to stay in Kendal and return the hospitality in the not too distant future.
