So the sleeper train experience! Both hated it! No sleep! Scared of bag snatching stories so slept on both bags. Not great and got to ayutthaya at 5 in the morning. So did the only thing we know what to do... Have breakfast!! And we did so surrounded by early risers and monks in a near by food market. Rice and chicken for breakfast though! Fine but beginning to crave bacon sarnies! Haggled a tuk tuk down to see the old temples and palace in the centre of ayutthaya which used to be another former capital!! However I think it was either due to no sleep, overcast drizzly weather and the fact it was 6 in the morning that we didn't enjoy it. Sukothai kicked its arse. So we sacked the temples off and went to the floating market. Now again we were here before some of the market stalls but this was class! Even got there before the Chinese!!! Relaxing and picturesque. We stayed there for the rest of the morning and chilled watching the floating market work. Again we ate (different types of pork and rice) then headed back for our train to Bangkok. The stations in Thailand are very different to home as you walk across the lines to a concrete patch known as your platform. However this is the best network system in south east asia... Banter! At Bangkok we waited a few hours to get our last sleeper train. Tired and feeling grubby. We ate in the cafeteria part of the station where the Thais were eating but not many westerners so we had spicy meat with rice!! Nice though!! The 2nd sleeper was worse! Initially just a fan until the carriage got cold! We had paid for air con. And the set up of the train was worse than the previous train meaning people walked past your head constantly! No sleep again! No more sleepers!!
