Again it was another short bus ride to Dallas, when we got there we ended up getting a taxi to our hostel. Our hostel turned out to be a house, a house that was in the middle of being refurbished. It felt really homely though.
The next morning we caught the train into Dallas city centre and visited the site where JFK was shot, there were so many people taking photographs. We caught the bus to the Heritage village, it was really interesting, there were people dressed up in costumes and acting out roles of people from years ago!! We also visited the farmers market before returning to the hostel.
The next day we went to the west village which is like the trendy part of Dallas. We then caught the train to Fort Worth which is where we will be staying for the next few days.
Fort Worth is famous for it cattle stockyards, which are exactly how they would have been years ago. It was just like walking onto a western film set. Everyday they herd the cattle down the street, once in the morning and once in the evening. We went on a walking tour of the whole stockyards and learnt about how it would have been for the cowboys. We also tried a buffalo burger, it was nice but nothing special. That evening we went to a rodeo, it was brilliant, they had everything, bull riding, broncos, barrell racing and more. After the rodeo we went to the worlds biggest honky tonk bar.It was full of cowboys. It was a good night!!
We went back to the Stockyards the next day and went on an old steam train, after the journey we went to a steak house, none of us eat steak at home but we thought as we were in Texas we should try the local dish!! It was so nice, but we were so full afterwards!!
Texas has been great but we are really looking forward to flying to California tomorrow!!!
