To relax after the week of Spanish, we decided to take a leisurely stroll with other students up to the "Indian nose" (see photo album for why peak is called this). It was not in fact leisurely in any sense. Everyone else started running up a massive hill and Emily was left stumbling along at the back. (Some ozzies turned back after 10 mins, but Dave had no mercy and Emily had to carry on).
San Pedro is about 1800m above sea level and the Indian Nose is about 500m above, which we ascended in about 2 (very horrible) hours. Emily would have preferred to visit the Indian Shoulder, or even Belly Button and saw no cause for scampering so unreasonably high.
However, it was a very impressive 360 degree view at the top and good practice for the Inca Trail...
The view from the top is of the whole lake (which is an extinct volcano crater) and two volcanos that you can see in the background of the photo.
To the right of the photo some 40 miles away is the Pacific Ocean, however pesky clouds blocked the view.....guess we will have to wait until Nicaragua to see this ocean.
After much effort Emily was pleased she persisted (well maybe?) and Dave was enjoying climbing a nose that was bigger than his.........

Pauline Noden What good will Emily be looking after asthmatic Dave on the Inca Trail? Answer - none, except he wouldn't be allowed to go without her. The view is amazing.
