Having had to change our plans and having now had to go from Dover to Calais, we decided to camp in Wimerux for our first night on the continent.
During the night our roof tent was slashed in various places on both sides and luckily we on had a coat and trousers stolen...our roof tent now looks like a patch work quilt as it as been repaired with silver gaffa tape....
As we drove out of the campsite the following morning it was a hard decision whether to turn left and head back home or turn right and keep going. Then I remembered Emilio Scotto's story and the choice was made.
we drove down through France and stopped in a cheap hotel just outside Poitiers to take stock and plan our next move. The following morning after a more restful nights sleep we left still heading south (all be it still raining) and arrived on thursday afternoon at Ilsares, and a much nicer camp site. So we are sitting in the tent with cheap red wine, and a bag of olives and its still raining.
