So it was with regret that I left Toronto but that wasn’t until I had walked in the snow. And my god there was snow! It poured it down with the biggest snowflakes I had ever seen, even bigger than those in Salt Lake City. So cool! I had a walk in the cemetery in the height of it, just pondering the trip and everything that I had experienced, to the best music – a bit of Snow patrol. Since leaving Lyndsay in Fiji I had listened to a lot of fire to the third bar, great tune. This is the last leg of the tour now; everything had gone so brilliantly, honestly it has been the best year of my life. Loran’s family and friends are so cool, she has a great social base, no surprise there, but her home life got me thinking about home a lot and missing it more and more. I am actually quite excited to get back. I still have a couple of stops before I reach the heights of Edlesborough though, next stop Niagara Falls
It was stunning, covered in snow, and the main falls had a mist above them that I could only describe as a mushroom cloud. You could hear the water falling from Miles away, it really is stunning! Especially at the height of winter, the raging water breaking the snow and ice that was on the surface of the lake. I am sure that the falls are impressive anytime of year and I would love to go back when they are in full summer mode, but I tell you now, during the winter it is a hidden treasure. The town itself is very commercialised, but what do you expect really? It reminded me a bit of places like Blackpool, but once you get past that it is an amazing sight.
I can’t wait to get back to Canada, this had been a fantastic taster, but I will be seeing Kayley again, to ski in Whistler, Loran and Shannon in Toronto and hopefully Kelly in Calgary. So it was back to America with some very fond memories of the white country.
